As a business, we are continuously working to reduce our impact on the environment whilst supporting sustainable practises that protect areas and allow them to thrive. For every project we undertake, we consider the environment and ensure all activity is carried out in the most environmentally friendly way.
We were one of the first UK port businesses to achieve International Environmental Management Standard: ISO 14001, utlising our own Environmental Management System.
Internally, we’re always looking at ways we can work simultaneously with the environment. The creation of our own Environmental Champions, allows employees to take pride in the environment and put forward innovative and fresh ideas to help us support the world we live in. Our Environmental Champions are also responsible for ensuring we adhere to legislations and strive to further improve our environmental performance.
Working collaboratively with external organisations such as Natural England and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), we make sure we’re supporting the environment where it’s needed most. We were also the first UK port to sign up to the Operation Clean Sweep® (OCS) initiative led by the British Plastics Federation to actively minimise the risk of plastic pellets leaking into the environment.
Across our business we work with our customers to reduce the negative impact a supply chain can have. As leaders in portcentric logistics, we’re helping to reduce our customers’ environmental impact by creating solutions that import cargo closer to its final destination; reducing travel and CO2 emissions.
