A vacancy has arisen for a full time, highly skilled and qualified Facilities Mechanical, Engineering and Plumbing Technician at PD Ports within the Engineering department. The ideal candidate will specialise in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of building services equipment, lighting, heating, pumps and ventilation. The role demands a strong understanding of electrical, mechanical and plumbing components.

Location: Tees Dock, Middlesbrough, TS6 6UD

Working Arrangements: Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 3.30pm.

The five main things our MEP Technician will be working on are:

  • Oversee the installation, operation and maintenance of mechanical systems including HVAC, pumps, compressors and fuel systems.
  • Conduct inspections and performance assessments of mechanical equipment across port facilities and troubleshoot mechanical failures.
  • Manage electrical infrastructure such as power distribution networks, substations, lighting systems, backup generators and shore power connections.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, alongside supporting electrical system upgrades and troubleshooting electrical failures.
  • Maintain water supply, drainage, fire‑fighting systems and wastewater networks across the port. Testing of fire pumps, hydrants, emergency water systems and support plumbing system upgrades and plumbing failures.

We are seeking someone who:

  • Is a fully time served Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Technician.
  • Holds a NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Mechanical/Plumbing.
  • Has a proven track record of fault diagnosis and rectification covering the above.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of lifting and handling heavy equipment as part of regular duties.
