A vacancy has arisen for a full time Engineering Officer of Watch at PD Ports within the Marine Engineering Team, operating on our MPV vessel as part of the workboat fleet.
Location: Marine Engineering, Middlesbrough, TS2 1LX
Working Arrangements: 162.5 Hours per month, 12.5 hours shifts, week on/week off shift rotation (covering every other weekend, no planned nightshifts)
Reporting to the Marine Engineering Superintendent, the main purpose of the role is to carry out operational & engineering tasks onboard a marine vessel as part of the crew, ensuring the vessel operates effectively in its function of supporting the River Tees.
The five main things our EOOW will be working on are:
- Collaboration – Work as part of a small operational crew daily. Cooperating with other engineer trades and supervisors to ensure smooth execution of repairs and maintenance.
- Component Maintenance and Repairs – performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks on components and systems.
- System Testing and Commissioning – routinely or after repair works, conducting system testing and commissioning to ensure systems are functioning correctly.
- Safety Compliance – following company and marine regulations, guidelines, and procedures to safely maintain and operate workboat vessels.
- Documentation and Reporting – maintain accurate records of vessel systems, defects, maintenance tasks and resources used.
We are seeking someone who:
- Experience and Qualification – EOOW certificate or equivalent, experience in operating vessels with mechanical and hydraulic systems.
- Problem Solving Abilities – being a part of an operational crew will require problem solving skills to trouble shoot issues and finding practical solutions, adapting to multiple systems, and changing situations.
- Adaptability and Flexibility – as part of the workboat function, seeking flexibility and adaptability to handle different vessels, schedules, and projects in a challenging environment.
