PD Ports has a strong association with containers. In fact the UK’s first purpose built container ship was built on PD Ports’ land at Teesport Commerce Park, formerly Smiths Dock.
Appropriately, our heritage can be seen on a daily basis with all the world’s major shipping lines visiting our ports including Containerships, MSC, CMA/CGM and Maersk amongst others. Our excellent shipping links can provide you with the choice and flexibility to enable you to be more responsive to your customers’ needs.
We have two dedicated container handling facilities to meet your needs and demands, one with two container terminals located within the primary East Coast setting of Teesport and the other in Hull.
Teesport Container Terminal 1 (TCT1) offers direct access to the North Sea from its riverside location on the South bank of the River Tees. Unrestricted marine access offers optimum flexibility and turnaround time for both ship operators and hauliers. TCT 1 is supported by BG Freight Line and KLine, and is equipped with two wide span gantry cranes.
Teesport Container Terminal 2 (TCT2) offers two berths of 10.9 metres depth, coupled with a crane outreach of 32.5 metres allowing for the handling of 13 boxes across. The terminal operates on a 24/7 basis and can accommodate vessels approaching 3000 TEU (Twenty foot Equivalent Units) capacity. TCT2 services the Baltic routes, supported by Containerships Ltd Oy, with the Far East trades and short sea market supported by feeders such as CMA-CGM, MSC, Feederlink and Unifeeder.
Our second site is Hull Container Terminal (HCT) which enjoys exceptional access by sea and land from continental Europe to the Midlands and North West. HCT has three ship to shore gantry cranes lifting well in excess of 20 units per hour. HCT has an annual capacity in the region of 300,000 TEU. This site is operational 24/7 and is serviced by a highly skilled and dedicated workforce.
At all of our sites and across our range of services our aim is to give your business the strength and flexibility to enable you to be more responsive to your customer requirements.
