Reporting to the Marine Engineering Superintendent, the main purpose of the role is to manage and oversee the stores department functions, assisting in the department’s day to day operations.

Location: Conservancy Department, Vulcan Street, Middlesbrough.
Working Arrangements: 162.5 Hours per month, 12.5 hours shifts, week on/week off shift rotation (covering every other weekend, no planned nightshifts)

The five main areas our Stores Controller will be working on are:
• Inventory Management – Responsible for managing the departments inventory, monitoring stock levels, and ensuring accurate records are kept. Quality control checks on incoming goods or materials.
• Procurement and Purchasing – Will play a role in the procurement process for the department, dealing with suppliers to order materials, equipment, and parts for the operational and engineering teams.
• Collaboration and Communication – Collaborating with various internal departments to ensure smooth flow of resources, liaising with external parties to coordinate deliveries, and maintaining good working relationships. Effective communication skills are essential to facilitate these interactions.
• Health and Safety – Adhering to Health & Safety regulations in the storage and handling of inventory, following safety procedures handling/storing hazardous materials. Conducting regular safety inspections and reporting any safety concerns.
• Operating Equipment – Responsible for operating the departments plant or vehicles to assist the department in day-to-day operations when required.

We are seeking someone with:
• Organisational and Time Management Skills – Being able to prioritise tasks, manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
• Attention to Detail – Dealing with numerous items, quantities and records requires eye for detail to ensure inventory accuracy when dealing with large quantities or expensive parts.
• Technological Proficiency – Proficiency in using inventory management software, spreadsheets, and other relevant tools is required. Being comfortable with using computerised systems for tracking inventory, generating reports, and analysing data will be advantageous.
• Inventory Management experience would be beneficial.
