Transport System Analyst

Teesport – Responsible for Group Wide Transport System

 

The Company

The Role

Reporting to the Bulks and Logistics Application Manager, the Transport System Analyst will lead, development and maintain transport systems to develop and support operational needs There will be a need to provide expertise in driving improvements and systematically analysing operational activity within PD Ports transport operations. The post holder will look to develop automated systems to address gaps, deliver training, and develop system documentation in line with business strategy, contractual obligations and budget requirements.

The Transport Systems Analyst must have an understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation relevant to the role, including an understanding of risk assessments and safe systems of work.

 

The primary duties of the role include:

  • Building and maintaining systems documentation
  • Working with the transport departments to support collaborative business initiatives
  • Establishing relationships with key external software providers to support system implementations
  • Producing reports and data analytics for Transport Department working with the IT Business Intelligence team
  • Responsible for developing reporting around commercial rates and costs
  • Responsible for developing KPI reports
  • Creating forecasts to understand the performance of the transport function
  • Train and coach others in working processes and IT developments
  • Continuous Improvement Activity within the transport function especially system related
  • Implementation of new technologies that drive efficiency

The Candidate

Your skills will include:

  • A Level qualification (essential)
  • Degree level qualification – either IT/Business/Maths (essential)
  • Driving licence/own transport
  • Strong understanding of how transport systems operate
  • Excellent business process skills
  • Project management experience would be an advantage, but not essential
  • Experience of delivering training on systems and processes to operational teams
  • Experience of using databases to develop reporting and analytic models
  • Coaching skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Financial and business acumen
  • Knowledge of transport operations
  • Experience and understanding of system integrations and data relationships
