The successful candidate will lead the next stage of the Group’s Health and Safety development, by creating a robust evidence based and industry leading safety strategy that will underpin and enable growth and expansion of the business.  You will develop, lead and champion a programme that will continue to place proportionate and effective safety at the heart of everything we do.  You will oversee effective delivery through suppliers, service partners and internal functions, gathering and utilising high quality management information to drive ongoing continual improvement.  You will be central to driving forward the safety culture of the business.

You will champion the effective and proportionate management of safety, act as an expert adviser and critical friend to the leadership team, management and staff, and engage in leading and developing the health and safety team to increase reach and influence across the business.  You will also represent the company with external stakeholders including industry groups, regulators, and government as well as monitor the organisation’s environmental performance against internal and external compliance targets.

You will also ensure the Group maintains the highest level of compliance against internal and external environmental requirements and relevant legislation.  You will do this by developing, implementing, and driving environmental strategies and policies as well as ensuring a robust audit and assessment regime is in place.  You will also play a key role in developing the Groups forward looking environmental and ESG agenda.  You will also look to lead on the ‘health’ and wellbeing element of the HSE role which seeks to promote and improve health and wellbeing to improve workplace performance.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following attributes, strong leadership and management expertise, good people skills and an ability to build good relationships. Skilled in driving change and influencing others, problem-solving, multi-tasking skills and completes tasks and objectives with drive, energy, and enthusiasm.

Can demonstrate a “can do” attitude and is seen as an ambassador for the company. Someone who has a proactive approach to work and uses own initiative to implement process improvements and embraces new challenges and gets things done. As well as setting high standards of work, for self and consistently achieves these, seen as friendly, approachable and always willing to assist and get involved.

Exhibits and lives the Group’s core values. Adept at thinking creatively and coming up with new ways of thinking to shape strategy and future projects. Someone who has excellent written and oral communication skills, proven data analytics skills and an ability to manage information, excellent IT skills and strong report writing and presentation skills.
